Customer Reviews
GamePC is a unique system builder in the fact that no two systems of ours are the same. Every system which ships out of our offices is completely custom built from scratch to fit each customer's individual needs. By not having pre-boxed systems, we can ensure each customer receives exactly the components and configuration they want. Over the seven years GamePC has been building systems, we've compiled a list of customers who have sent in their thoughts on their newly built GamePC systems.

Do you own a GamePC? How about submitting a review for use on our website?

I want to send you this note to thank you again and personally express my pleasure in doing business with your company. You guys rock.

I have bought many a pc in my 20+ years working in software development, but never from a company whose folks displayed so much competency and desire to work one on one with a customer until you know they are completely satisfied.

Buying the tweaked out machine I did from y'all was truly a great experience, every step of the way.

Please feel free to share my endorsement with anyone and everyone!

It was hard finding a vendor that would configure, build, and test a system. I extremely glad I found GamePC. They worked with me thru the entire process of building the system. but nothing prepares you for the moment you open the case and see the superior craftsmanship and attention to detail that this put into making this system.

I would like to thank Phil the representative that helped me with every detail a big thank you. I can confidently say I made the right choice in going with GamePC and will recommend anyone in the future to use this company.

For anyone wanting to build a new system, pick GamePC this company offers a whole lot more than just putting parts togather and sending you a system in a box. Its the attention to detail the customer support that works with you thru the entire process, the value one gets is head and shoulders above the many other system builders I have ordered from now there is no need to wonder where to get my next system! I am customer for life.

Fast assembly and shipping. Very satisfied with my system. All drivers and BIOS’s updated to the latest available. I cancelled my Alienware order after I realized it would take them 4-6 weeks to do what GamePC did in 10 days. With the money I saved ditching Alienware I got a faster, better GamePC!

As both a first-time computer buyer, and a student of computer science at uni, I had both an almost complete lack of knowledge, and considerably esoteric needs. The website layout of GamePC made it very easy to choose exactly what I required. However, what stood GamePC head and shoulders above its competition was the help they provided both in choosing a custom build, and getting the computer operational after receipt. I strongly recommend GamePC to anyone looking to buy anything other than a very standard computer. Excellent. Thank you very much.

What can i say. I''ve been having GamePC Build my systems for probably 5-6 years now. Every product shipped is always A++ Quality. When i first opened up my first gamepc case, i could tell what kind of company i was dealing with. I have never seen a computer built with suce precision and care.

I have nothing but positive things to say about this company. I will never have another computer built by anyone else, and that goes for my entire family as well.

P.S. The customer support is unbelievable.

I've had my laptop for about 2 weeks now, and it runs as smooth as silk.

The staff, particularly Jeff, was very helpful in making sure I had what I needed to get it up and running. Since I mentioned I was going to put Fedora Core 4 on it, he thoughtfully emailed me to make sure that I had the capability to get the Wifi and other hardware working. Also, I know they took time to test the equipment before they shipped it, since they found a bad memory module and apologetically notified me of the delay and fixed it.

I thought that regardless of whom I ordered my laptop from, they would shy away from the S word (service). I didn''t think that there were vendors who took such care and pride in their craft any more. I was wrong.

I bought a CPU Kit of a dual Opteron 252, Tyan K8WE and 4 GB of ram. It's worked perfectly, and I''ve gotten good support from GamePC with questions about the hardware and running Windows x64.

I wanted to build a computer myself, and buying a tested, waranteed kit was a great way to do it myself and still have the heart of the system be insured for quality.

I love my new GPN-A64C laptop! When I asked questions before purchase and GamePC was very quick in responding. When I had concerns after the sale, they were still quick to respond. My laptop is quiet, feels durable, has a HUGE screen (I'm not kidding, it seems bigger than my 17" CRT), and has a ton of ports.

I looked around a lot and could find no one else to offer as much as what I got in this laptop. My only regret is they didn''t have some of those snazzy new choices when I ordered mine (they came out with 3 or 4 more models when mine was being built).

This really is an amazing company. Over the course of a few months I sent various configurations to the support staff trying to determine what I really wanted from a new machine. I always found the advice I got to be spot on, and much of the time I was actually advised to change my configuration in ways which would actually bring the cost of the rig down. I was never pressured to make a purchase, and I was treated with respect and never spoken down to. When I finally spoke to a sales rep on the phone, who by the way called me back within 5 minutes of me sending out the request, all of my questions were answered professionally and happily, and again, even after an almost 20 minute conversation, I was never asked to purchase anything.

There is definitely a premium you pay for GamePC to assemble the machine for you, but the sales and customer service staff, warranty, and build quality is well worth it. I received my machine promptly, and it is just gorgeous on the inside. I was promised cool and quiet computing, and that is exactly what I got. The cable management was superb, everything arrived packaged neatly and in perfect condition. I received all supporting documentation, cd''s, accessories for all the hardware in my pc.

GamePC is truly ahead of the pack in the custom rig market, in a few years I''ll definitely be back. Thanks to all the reps and technicians who answered repeated questions and emails, and to those that built such a sweet PC.

Flat out have never experienced such a knowledgeable and friendly staff. I had a unique situation running on solar panels so I had to save on power consumption but I love to play games. They had unheard of exact specifications on the best configuration and even knew the power consumption differences in the components. I had all these parts lined up at one of the discount order places, but with service like this they are worth every penny, something you won''t find elsewhere. Very impressive service means a great overall value!

I want to take a minute and thank your sales staff and technical staff for the best experiennce I have ever had buying a computer. This is also the best time I have ever had configuring a computer.

I bought a computer from GamePC configured with dual Asus GeForce 6800 Ultra's in an SLI configuration on an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with an AMD Athlon64 FX-55 processor feeding dual Western Digital Raptors and 2 Gig of low latency Crucial 3200XL DDR 400 memory and a 600 watt power supply, an Audigy LS sound card and a 23" Sony flat screen monitor. So much for bragging rights.

Now about GamePC, I could hardly tell the sales staff fron the technical staff. Both were EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I am not an easy customer to satisfy and this machine is the dream box I have built in my head for a couple of years. But, I am not that technically savy. What I do is read when I am building so each time we had a decision to make I had to go read up in selected news groups and technical sites. With this in mind I gave them two techincal problems I wanted the maximum performance from every component without overclocking. E-mails were answered usually in less than an hour each time I had a question or request during the build process.

I am exceptionally satisfied ... and I will say I am not an enthusiast, I am not an enthusiast, I am not an enthusiast .... but I am very enthusiastic.

I can't even describe the gaming experience with this machine because I become inarticulate and just kind of sit in front of the screen and drool. If I had a faster twitch reflex in my trigger finger I would rule cyberspace. I am now playing several games I have bought over the last year because what I am seeing in them is almost an entirely different experience than when I limped through them with my old machine.

I cannot recommend this company strongly enough. GamePC treats each customer like he was the only one they had and what he had to say afterwords mattered.

About 2 months ago I decided it was time to treat myself to a new machine. My older one is a GamePC machine, and I absolutely love it, so I decided I''d go with GamePC again. Prior to making my purchase online, I had a number of questions regarding certain components. As in the past, the GamePC sales group''s responses were great, providing me with quick and accurate answers to my technical questions.

In addition to purchasing a new computer, I decided to buy a new monitor as well. The Sony SDM-P234/B 23 widescreen LCD caught my eye, and I inquired about getting that through GamePC. GamePC told me that they could indeed get the monitor for me (it wasn''t part of their inventory at the time). GamePC''s outstanding dead-pixel policy was what convinced me to go ahead and make such a large investment.

When I received my new GamePC, I was impressed, once again, with the quality of workmanship GamePC put into my machine. Today, it''s not just about getting a functional computer. It''s also about getting a machine that looks great, both inside and out (cable management internally is very nice). Another option that I included in my order was GamePC''s noise reduction system (level 3). My machine is the quietest of any machine I own. This is important to me, as I not only use the machine for gaming, but for audio production as well. Oh, and that Sony 23 LCD monitor? Absolutely beautiful.

Well this is my second system from GamePC and I am more impressed than ever before. Phil my contact at GamePC was the best. He helped configure the system to meet my needs and never pressured me on anything I didn't need. His knowledge of the components and software was very helpful. The computer arrived right on the time he promised and was easy setup. This system is great. I purchased the Disruptor AMD system. I am very happy with it. I will be changing out my wives computer in the next few months and you can bet I'll be back. Thank you all for the wonderful computer, time to get back to work :-)

I just wanted to drop you all a line and say that my Shuttle GPP-875S/300 arrived yesterday in fine condition. I spent the day yesterday installing, configuring, and tweaking the system, and I am most pleased with the results.

Please pass along my compliments to all departments. My entire shopping experience, from arriving at the website to recieving my system, was exceptional. I have recommended you to friends and business associates and wish you all success in the future.

Thank you for the sweet system. In addition to the very fast build, the rig came out awesome. I tested it against Star Wars Galaxies (the game is an insane system hog) and am getting ~28 fps with the graphics set at about 75%. For reference, the P4 3.0/Geforce 5600 was only doing roughly 12 fps with the settings in the 25% performance range. In short, incredible system.

P.S.; Give the guys who pieced the system together a pat on the back.

I''m very happy with my new Shuttle XPC. Ordering and shipping were quick and easy. I''m impressed with Fedora Linux, which ran perfectly out of the box and even included the installation disks (on CD-R) at no cost. GamePC even downloaded and installed the extra drivers needed for the built-in nForce2 ethernet. Thanks!

The new machine has been up and running flawlessly for a month now so I wanted to say thank you for another excellent computer. From the initial determination of what to put in it, to the assembly and last-minute requests you so graciously helped out with, it was a very smooth process. I always felt that you were helping me get a great computer, and not just trying to sell me unnecessary things.

Your advice about what components to choose was reliable. The hard drive with which I was concerned about noise (WD Caviar) is completely silent and fast. It turns out XP Home does indeed do all I need and the 85 bucks extra for Pro would have been wasted.

Everything was assembled with care, the wires are all bundled up and the extra cables for the CD drive I put in were right where I needed them. I can run games fast at 1600x1200, but I have to turn down the res because I can't see the icons!

Even better, with name brand components and full upgradability, it was cheaper than all the other high- end manufacturers such as Alienware and Falcon, and cost the same as the Dell with lesser components (you can't even get most of the good stuff like the All In Wonder). It is one of the few purchases I don't have buyer's remorse for - everything is as it should be with a fair price and great service. All computers should be bought from GamePC.

Over the past 2 years my company has purchased several PC systems from GamePC. Our requirements to GamePC have always been on a very short fuse - and getting the systems we needed had to be done correctly - sometimes with only a few hours/days of turn around time.

GamePC sales and their technical support staff have come through for us on every occasion. They have worked with us on some very difficult problems - and worked very hard to get everything we requested on time and on budget. On a number of occasions the GamePC staff have provided suggested changes in our hardware specs - that saved us time and avoided unforseen headaches.

Thank you Phil and all of your associates at GamePC. We highly recommend your company and services to any and all considering a computer purchase.

I just got my new GPN-R9 laptop, which is the second machine I've purchased from GamePC. Things haven't changed since the last machine I bought, and I just want to thank you for your continued efforts to make computer purchasing a unique experience.

Never before have I received so many e-mails and phone calls from a retailer, making sure the product was being designed just the way I wanted it. Well, it was done right and now I have an incredible laptop that is truly a desktop replacement.

I''ve had a lot of problems with online vendors in the past. I expected some serious troubles again. I was happily disappointed.

The people I dealt with on the sales team were knowledgeable, surprising me by knowing what they were selling. Most places seem to employ people with no background with computers.

The computer I ordered worked flawlessly. Everything I ordered was put together exactly how I would have done it myself. Perfect.

I would certainly come back to GamePC again and again!

Your system is working out fantastically, and it was shipped with extreme efficiency per my request - as such thank you very much, for being without a computer during the end of your high school career can be daunting. Having owned previous systems from Alienware and other high end manufacturers - you were the first to take an active interest in my needs, far and above what I would expect.

Thank You.

I recieved my GamePC today & I am very pleased with it.

Let me start by saying that the staff at GamePC really know how to build computers, the attention to detail is awesome. Also the staff is very knowledgeable & patient. I ordered my computer on the 8th of April, & I must have emailed them 25 to 30 times between system build & shipment. Each & every email was answered in a timely manner, no more than an hour past before I recieved a response. They always had a knowledgeable answer to whatever my concerns were. GamePC I salute you for a job well done. Keep up the good work, you can be sure I will tell all of my friends & family to purchase their computers from GamePC. Again thank you for all of you time & patience.

Thank you for the follow up regarding the systems we ordered. All have been received and have been deployed throughout our organization.

I tasked my helpdesk personnel and administrators to scrutinize the machines and make an assessment as to the quality, fit and finish of the systems.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. All systems were qualified as "ready to go" out of the box. The quality of the parts and assembly is first rate.

It normally takes one of my personnel a considerable amount of time to ramp up a machine we receive from say, Dell. This is due to the fact that the "image" that is used by the large manufacturers is not updated regularly. At times a bio may be 5 revs back.

Every PC we received form your company was updated from the Bios to the Nic card with the latest drivers and/or revs.

Thank you for the superb machines. We intend to use you in the future.

I am very pleased with my purchase from GamePC.

Their sales department responded to my questions within minutes after they were asked. The 2 times I needed tech support, my problem was quickly responded too and fixed within 2 hours. The notebook computer I ordered from is very high powered and is the best system I have used to date. The building and shipping of my order was very quick and my tracking number was sent to me so I could keep up with my order after it was shipped.

I will advise GamePC to all of my friends and co-workers for their next computer purchase. The prices are very competive, customation of systems is unbelievable, and the quality is amazing.

Keep up the good work.

Excellent interaction with sales. They provided timely, knowledgeable, and relevent answers to configuration questions, the machine was built and tested properly, delivered on time, and all pieces, parts, manuals, CDs, and software were neatly assembled in the delivery box. I was also impressed by the very timely processing of a credit when we made a necessary configuration change as the machine was being built.

The availability - and continued interest - of GamePC post-order is excellent as well.

The only negative is that I am very disappointed in the noise level of the box (Shuttle SB51G). Operationally, the box works fine but the fan and DVD noise levels are very high. The Shuttle is not well engineered in this regard.

Now I understand why GamePC doesn't have publicity on magazines, they don`t need it...their service is just excellent, outstanding. Beyond the money, beyond the products and how much we can spend on a system, I think it is very very important the contact with the people, answering mails in minutes, in a couple of hours...not the next two days or the next week, answering any question or any doubt and being honest. That’s why I chose GamePC, not because they were the cheapest. I’m in Mexico City and here it is difficult to get a high-end system. I spent weeks looking for a store online, everything looked the same, then I finally found this page looking for a review of the xeon systems and then it was clear, quality is reflected on everything: the reviews were excellent, the page itself was excellent, the custom generator was wonderful, the information about products, etc...well, everything was perfect. Then I made my order, I sent the money, before they shipped the system they told me about an incompatibility issue with the mainboard, the memory and the power supply, they corrected this with no extra cost and shipped the product....I received it three days later. Note that it was a dual xeon 2.8 ghz..and in any other store the delivery time was at least one week, and in many others they didn’t even have what I was looking for.

It’s a pleasure to spend money on quality products and quality service, it is a pleasure to do business with this company...

Thank you

I was looking all over for the Gigabyte GA-8INXP motherboard...no one anywhere had it, I had pre-ordered it back in December with another company and they had charged me already, but never shipped. I saw it was In Stock at gamepc and decided to email them and ask if it was REALLY in stock, since unitedmicro said it was in stock when I pre-ordered and it obviously wasn''t. Gamepc sales got back to me first thing in the morning (I emailed late the night before) and told me it was in stock. I canceled my pre-order, ordered from gamepc, and it has already been shipped (just ordered a few hours ago if that). The website is really cleanly written and easy to use. I''d imagine the only reason gamepc has this motherboard in stock is because they don''t appear on pricewatch or pricegrabber or any other pricing system.

Thanks,
Keith

This is the fifth order I''ve placed with GamePC over the past two years. Every one has been handled extremely well. If they have even the slightest query they''re on the phone to sort things out. No they''re not the cheapest out there, but their service is unbeatable & worth paying a tiny premium for. Keep it up GamePC.

Dear Game PC Sales Team,

I recieved my second Game PC system on Thursday September 26, 2002 and I am delighted with the systems performance and ease of bringing it on line in my new home local area network.

One thing that I am amazed at is the broadband net connection speed with these two new systems. I use a cable modem and and a Linksys Router. My previous connection speed was about 1Mb/sec, with my older systems, which I thought was great. Now with the new Game PC systems my connection speed is 2.8Mb/sec--WOW!!

I want to thank your technical staff for all the extra testing and work they did to help provide me with a stable, reliable system. I really appreciate their efforts and final recommendations which have resulted in a system configuration that I am completely happy with in terms of performance and reliability.

Thanks Game PC for a great system. Please feel free to use this response in your endorsements file for future buyers.

Sincerely, William

Dear Game PC Sales Team,

My new computer arrived on Friday, August 30,2002 and I am delighted.

I had quite an experience setting up my network as the Linksys router was bad and after stringing 100 feet of Cat 5 cable it was difficult to identify the right problem. That is over and I am up and operating and really like the new computer( your guys did a great job assembling the system) and the Win XP-PRO operating system.

I will be geting another Game Pc in the near future. I want the ATI-9700 video card and the new AMD 2600 processor. I also like the Vantec removable hard disk system and will probably order a spare for my wife's new system.

Many Thanks for Job Well Done,
William

I bought my GamePC system in April of 1999. The GamePC technicians bent over backwards to help resolve compatibility issues with the system memory I had provided them and with DVD playback. I was most pleased with the results and with the subsequent service I received from them. They know how to build a custom system! Their prices are fair and the service is excellent. They are also a great source of components and product information.

The new webpage layout is great guys! I must stop by this site at least 5 times a week…

I love reconfiguring and pricing PCs and watching them either drop or rise in price... that''s half the fun!

I've ordered all my previous PC components through gamepc and service is outstanding. They get back to you easily within 24 hours and with more help than you thought possible.

Great company guys!

My machine has just be repaired -- make that rebuilt - by GamePC, and I feel that I would be remiss if I didn't let others know about this fine company. Something like spreading the good news and all that.

About 3 weeks ago, I managed to fry both the CPU (1.3 GHz T-Bird) and motherboard in my Alienware rig. Needless to say, I was quite upset -- both because of the damage ($$) and, even worse, I had just made it to the final level of Castle Wolfenstein. I had heard about GamePC via word of mouth, on the web, etc., and I'm forever thankful that I did.

They first managed to calm me down (something like when you go to the doctor with a disease you think is really bad, and he tells you it's really no big thing). Then they clearly let me know, in simple terms that even I could understand, exactly what I needed and what I had to do to get it. Believe me, I work in a customer service oriented business, and I know that if a customer like me came along, I would have been climbing the walls. Instead, the GamePC sales people patiently answered all my questions, gracefully listened to my repititious comments and generally made me feel like I had truly come to the right place.

Please trust me when I say that I have never dealt with better people in the computer industry. Every email I sent them was answered within a hour (on business days). In comparison, when I tried -- repeat tried -- to contact one of the other "performance" computer companies for support and/or questions, I was put on hold to dead air (or sometimes to the X-Files theme) for up to 45 minutes. And I was lucky to get a response to my emails within a week. Once it actually took 15 days. It was like after they sold me a machine (and I paid for their "warranty"), it was bye-bye. The mainstream manufacturers are better in terms of response time, but it's totally the luck of the draw whether or not you get a tech who knows more than you do.

Anyway, to bring this to a close, I ended up with a new Asus A7V266-E motherboard and Athlon XP 1900 CPU in my Alienware (now GamePC) case. Please believe me, a lot of people can build fast machines, make up colorful advertizements and send selected, highly tuned versions of their hardware to Maxmum PC, Game PC, etc. to be reviewed. The real difference is the people you deal with and the support they give. In these areas, GamePC has no equal in my experience (not to say that their machines aren't as good or better than anything around). My "new" system runs flawlessly and very fast. These are truly the "good hands" people.

I was reading the mailbag as I often do and stumbled upon my earlier testimonial about my system back in May of 1999. I just wanted to make a comment about the reliability about what is still a fantastic system.

Over the last two and a half years I have upgraded to a Pentium III 800/100 (from GamePC of course!), I replaced the original ASUS TNT with a Creative GeForce 2 GTS 32Meg, and I have thrown in a stick of Crucial 256MB SDRAM (CAS2). I have added a CD burner, a Linksys Ethernet card, an ATI TV Wonder. You know what? The thing still runs great! I had to add the memory for Return to Castle Wolfenstein since the hard drive kept pausing the game to load textures, but previously the 128MB was enough. The IBM Deskstar has run flawlessly on a daily basis for two and a half years, the slot-filled motherboard continues to rock and the case (Addtronics 6980A or something like that) fits everything and has enough power to drive a system that has expanded throughout the room on various tendrils of CAT5 and printer wires and PalmPilot cradles and printers etc.

When it was time to upgrade the processor GamePC remembered my system and recommended the maximum upgrade I could run. They have always been there, even years after the purchase. Their system (with some upgrading) does not even sweat when I throw modern games at it. Spend the hundred extra bucks over the Dell.

This machine is a beast. It eats everything I throw at it and has been virtually 100% reliable (let's face it, it's running Windoes 98 after all - can't expect pefection!). I look forward to my new GamePC in a year or so, and I intend to always buy from them. Don't even think about it. If you want a powerful system that will last - just order it. NOW!

Dear GamePC,

I just wanted to thank you. I've been using my system for about two weeks now, and I can honestly say it's the most impressive machine I've ever used. I also was *extremely* impressed by the way it was packaged and all the included extras!

As soon as I first opened the box and saw the machine, I could tell it was quality. The first thing I did was open it up and take a peek inside, and I could tell it was constructed with care. All the cables were neatly tied and bound and everything was installed very securely. I turned it on briefly to make sure all the fans and such worked, and everything worked flawlessly. The machine performs like a dream, and I appreciate all the work entailed in putting it together and testing it as well as answering all my questions (and your patience since I asked so many with an e-mail practically every day).

I also was very impressed by all the extras. I got manuals for *everything*, extra drive bays and screws, extra USB ports for the motherboard should I change cases and not use the front USB connectors, CD's for everything, and even a free game (Deus Ex) that I assume came with the video card bundle and that I can honestly say is becoming my favorite game of all time (even surpassing the System Shock series). What most impressed me is, had you not included some of this stuff, I probably never would have known the difference, and I really appreciate the extra value and getting everything I paid for.

I won't forget this experience and will shop with you again (as well as spread the word)!

Thanks again,
Shaun

I had been shopping around for the best component prices using sites like pricewatch and tom's hardware and found the gamepc to be one of the front runners. I must say I was very surprised to find that not only did they offer some of the best prices but their staff and sales support was by far some of the most accomidating I've dealt with. I have already referred two of my friends to gamepc, one of which has purchased components already and the other of which will be buying shortly. I trust they too will have the same great experience I have.

That is great news! Thank you for the all the support.. I tell all my friends about GamePC's service, alienware has nothing on you. Prices are higher, service and support is lower. I guess because they waste all that money putting ads in magazines, huh? Thanks again.

I don't know what email to send this to, but I wanted you to know that you guys do a great job. I ordered my last system from you and you sent follow up emails, and called me when there was a problem with my order (a mistake I made). I tell everyone I know to order from you guys (though it doesn't always work because they want a Big Brand Name system, oh well).

Thanks!

Game PC was steadily earning my present and future business long before I bought my computer from them. I literally stumbled upon them while surfing the internet, and was instantly enthralled by the level of customization that they offered - everything from the power supply to the boot options.

I am a very finicky computer buyer, and had several dozen questions about various technical and compatability issues. They patiently and quite expertly answered all questions. Many of the questions I asked were extremely technical, and I wouldn't expect most people to be very well versed in it without some exhaustive research. They were also very willing to offer additional setup options on my computer to help me transfer stuff from my existing computer at home.

I wasn't disappointed when I finally received my rig and popped it open - a very neat and professional job that I have been extremely pleased with. I don't have any comment on Game PC's support system, however, because I have had no need to use it...another plus. It's a kickin' system that I can't brag up enough - they can expect another explosion of questions when I am ready to upgrade again... Now if I can only get some comuter magazines to publish a review of their systems to get them some more press. Other people need to learn about this place!

Great job, guys, THANKS!

I received my GamePC custom system about a month ago. Before ordering the system, I thought a lot about whether or not I wanted to go through the process of building my own system again. I decided that I was tired of that route, so next I started looking for the right company to build my dream machine. I knew that Dell built reliable systems, but they could not provide me with all of the options that I was looking for. I asked around on various gaming and PC newsgroups, and a number of people recommended GamePC.

After looking at your site, reading your hardware reviews, your various systems and components offered, and, most specifically, your technical support Mailbag, I was thoroughly convinced. I placed my order. There was a number of email communications made between myself and your sales and support staff during the build process. Professional, courteous, and accurate responses always followed, and were always timely. Now that I have used my system for a month, I can honestly say that I have never been happier with any other computer that I have owned or used.

Originally I had my doubts about having someone else build a system exactly the way I wanted, but your company far exceeded even my highest hopes.

Beautiful job, GamePC. And thanks again to both your sales and technical staff.

I recently ordered two rigs from Game PC. First the ordering process and shipping went exactly as advertised, all documents, manuals and boxes with the PCs even the motherboard and processor stickers... Being sceptical of buying a prebuilt computer, the first thing I did was open up the boxes. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny. All wires were zip tied out of the way to allow for another card to go in with bare minimal effort. Never have I seen such care and pride in craftmanship from a retailer... Not Dell, Gateway, NEC... nobody delivers this type of quality. I highly recommend Game PC to anyone thinking of purchasing a PC... Keep up the great work and thanks for the rigs.

I had to stop work here just for a moment to say Thank You, for the awesome system you have built for me. The quality of the products used and the assembly is beyond words. The inside of the box is so well put together I sat in awe when the system first arrived. I have bought other systems built by the likes of Dell, Compaq and others and must say nothing can compare to a GamePC! Again, Thanks for all you've done.

My experience with GamePC was excellent. There was a problem with Windows 2000 and the ATA-100 controller on my motherboard, and instead of shipping anyway, they gave me a call to let me know what was going on and to see what I wanted to do. When I finally got my system, everything was in order. The wiring inside the tower was very clean and everything was done very professionally. I was so impressed by GamePC that I ordered another system from them less than a month later for my sister!

As a former computing magazine editor, it's been my business to critique PC vendors and products. I can't emphasize enough how impressive GamePC has been with my recent purchase of a high-end system for my business. I must have jiggered the configuration of my PC half a dozen times after the order. It was a classic opportunity for vendor confusion. Yet the Game PC staff provided prompt, reasoned, and knowledgable responses to my queries, and shipped the proper configuration without delay. I've purchased PCs from Dell, Compaq, and a variety of resellers. Not one of them approached the experience I had with GamePC. It's simply obvious that these guys know their stuff.

To be perfectly honest, I stumbled upon GamePC quite by accident on the internet one evening. I found their website to be very well designed & informative, which is very impressive in this age of slapped together websites. The level of customization available for systems is second to none. After toying around with a couple of custom AMD & Intel system designs for about a week (& reading various component parts reviews), I decided to order one of their custom rigs for our business network (which we use for network gaming on the weekend!), instead of the Dell & Alienware systems we have ordered in the past.

The GamePC system was assembled & delivered in less than two weeks. UPS managed to bang the box around without mercy during it's trip from CA to GA, somehow damaging the well packed system, but the GamePC staff promptly 'NEXT DAY AIRED' me the replacement parts (Hard Drive & Video Card), which I installed myself without problem.

The machine has performed like a champ ever since, easily beating our similarily equiped (& priced) Dell 4100 at ALL performance tests (System/Memory/Drive/etc). Without a doubt, I will be purchasing all future systems from these guys. They know their business & do it well.

Matrox RT2000 digital video editing suites were added to those systems. They're perfect for Gallaudet University students who seek the high-end digital video creation. Now, they are able to capture, edit and export their videos easily to web page, videotape and CD/DVD disc. (DVD creation are currently in experimental stage.) They reside in two of our Academic Technology units, (Television & Media Production Services and Multimedia Services' labs). network gaming on the weekend!), instead of the Dell & Alienware systems we have ordered in the past.

Had to say...I'm very pleased with GamePC. My computer was a bare-bone, that was damaged during shipment and GamePC immediately built and re-shipped me another unit, no questions asked.

Once it arived I installed all remaining hardware without incident, probably due to most divers were already installed. I also noticed the HDD was properly partitioned (large HDD) as was the O/S. The hardware GamePC used is first class and well worth the price...I must also thank Customer Service, they had gobs of patients with me and seemed to understand my depression.

One satisfied customer, This GamePC rig kicks!!.

I'd just like to thank you all for your help. While I'm sure most of your projects don't have so many bumps in the road, I'd like you all to know that I'm 110% satisfied with both the quality of the machine and the service from GamePC. Above all, however, I'd like to thank you for your friendliness and support - one of the things that makes GamePC stand out above the rest. Thanks again, and good luck to all of you in the future.

Just got my system yesterday. I just have one thing to say. OH MY GOD!!! This has to be the best system I've ever owned. Setup was a snap. I just unpacked everything, plugged it all in, and booted into windows. I was happy to see that you left Q3Test on my system. I can't wait to get the retail version of Q3 and try it out on this bad boy! Everything runs perfectly. It's incredibly fast. I'm in love.

Thank you so much,

One word: WOW! I can't believe how fast my brand new machine is. It just amazes me how GamePC can make a system so much faster, and those other companies' "custom" systems are nowhere near the speed and quality of GamePC's machines.

I am very happy with my new computer and I highly recommend GamePC and will always turn to them when I need to upgrade.

If you are looking to buy a new computer and you're serious about getting THE best...there's no other place to look. Company L and Z will never get even close to GamePC's level. You can set up a new system with the largest selection of parts in the market and have the excellent wizards at GamePC to do the job of building it for you. I recommend GamePC 100% and I don't see myself buying anything else.

Wow. You guys really are a cut above the rest. Now whenever my friends want some components or a whole computer, I always tell them to go to gamepc.com! I love the 1 GHz Athlon I got from you, the price was right and the performance is awesome. Thanks GamePC!

Game PC, I just want to tell you how happy I am with my system. You shipped it in record time, about 7 days (I received it)!!! The sound card died after a couple minutes, but your support staff was excellent in answering my questions via email and numerous personal calls to work on the problem. Tutns out the SB LIve card was bad after all and Game PC sent me a new card the next day via overnight express UPS. Very impressive.

Now all is great, stable and working EXTREMELY well. I can safely say that when I'm in the market again for a new PC (whivh should be a while thanks to my new monster rig) or upgrades...Game PC is where I'll turn to.

Thank you and especially thank you to the tech support guys. You Rock!!!

I have been using my Game PC barebones system for a week now. I have not been this happy with a system in a long time. Your options for systems to buy was unbeatable, allowing me to only buy what I actually needed, instead of nonsense I already own superior components to. (When you have a 5 button Intellimouse Explorer, one does not want to pay for an inferior mouse.)

As someone with a decent level of technical skill, I was able to get the few questions I had answered quickly via email, allowing me to get up and running fast. The last time I bought a system upgrade was from a local PC shop. You guys were far better with answering questions, and had my system to be ultra fast, something they did not. (This local shop had also lied to me about the motherboard, which had a faulty agp slot the MoBo's manufacturer said on their site did not work correctly!)

I am so happy with my system. You guys are great! Fair prices, fast service, both in tech support and shipping, and an extremely helpful website. Whenever I upgrade this awesome system, even if it is just a few components, I will be ordering them from you! I don't give out recommendations to people easily, but I have been telling everyone I know about you guys. I thank Somethingawful.com for alerting me to you, and I only wish Computer Gaming World and PC Gamer would talk about your company as well. Game PC is easily everything I want in a computer hardware company.. and then some!

The University of Wisconsin is now the proud parent of another excellent system, as the GameBook I ordered is spectacular. It's running Win2k like a dream, and I'll be playing with the Linux install as time permits. I can't wait to see the looks on my coworkers faces when I'm running our CPU heavy biosphere model on my laptop - faster than the Silicon Graphics machines in the next room. Thank you again.

Recently placing my order for a custom sys. (I was planning to build myself) I was dissapointed to find that the graphics card I wanted was not in stock. Only a few hours after placing my order, GamePC emailed me offering a better card at the same price. Wow! That is the mark of a really good company.

Upon arrival, I put my PC togther and booted up. Everything ran flawlessly, until the keyboard locked up and wouldn't respond. The fix - by GamePC techs - was something that even I didn't think of (hint*grounding issues)

On top of all that, GamePC is the only company out there that allows you to put togther a custom sys. Just imagine calling Dell up and asking for a Coolmaster case! Hah!

Thanks, Martin

WOW, I must say, "Superb construction, great design and great look. Just point-blank GREAT". And so Fast. It by far exceeded everything my mind had concieved. It brought back some of the trust in computer manufacturers I had lost throughout the years. The computer was well constructed and the parts to choose from off the web page are all industry leading equipment. I a proud to say, "I own a GamePC!"

I have been enjoying my GamePC.com gaming computer and I was impressed with the quality, fit and finish of the machine from day one...

But you folks have flat out exceeded any other vendor in the area of post-sale support. I was having a problem with my power supply and you folks were kind enough to ship me out a replacement unit so I could get my machine up within two days... What a great company! Most other large OEM's require you to send back the defective unit first... You folks really came through in the clutch...

Thanks a million!

I purchased my GamePC system back in June. I had built my last three machines myself but had finally begun earning enough cash to buy exactly what I wanted and thought I let you guys do most of the work and just tune it up myself. I started to send in a referral when I first received it because the thing just screamed quality from every pore and crevice. Every detail I requested when I ordered was covered. I decided to wait and see if I felt the same after a few months. If anything, I am more impressed now than then.

Not only were the drive bays free to add in the parts I had told you I would be installing myself, but your staff had even left the appropriate power connectors and drive cables in place in the empty bays. That was a beautiful touch as you had also carefully bound all the cables together down the center of the case to ensure adequate airflow. Any cables I had to install myself were easily bound to the ones your guys did. I successfully OC'ed my PIII 650E FC-PGA to a stable 866 using the delightful Asus CUBX board you recommended to me based on my stated plans and needs. (Don't worry, I know if I cook the processor I'm on my own.)

Quite frankly, this is the best computer I have ever had the pleasure to use, let alone own, and as the sole computer person in a networked office of 85 people using NT, AIX, Linux, and Win95/98 I have had my hands on quite a few. Thank you for such a remarkable product.

Being a gamer for quite some time now, I have gone through numerous computers, and upgrades to said computers. By chance, my previous computer got hit by lightning and I was without one for quite some time. When the time came to buy a new machine I shopped around and found that GamePC provided THE BEST options for customizing your computer to EXACTLY what you wanted. They are by far the best solution for the hard core gamer.

You know exactly what is going into your system, there are no questions about that. They go above and beyond the call of duty by providing you with things only found in Mainstream OEMs. Like Recovery disks, and because they are a company targeted towards the gamer.. You can be sure that computers they built are optimized for the true gamer. Overall, I am one happy customer. I am very pleased with my choice to purchase of a GamePC system.

Just wanted to give you guys at GamePC some kudos for my computer system.

I was not the easiest customer in the world to deal with, demanding performance, all my accessory hardware and materials, last-minute changes, and extensive tech-support, but you guys came through and authentically seemed happy to help out.

I just wanted to let you know I appreciate the fine job you did with my computer system.

I've just completed my third complete system order from GamePC and I would not for one second hesitate to continue purchasing products from your organization. Thanks for allowing me to take my PC addiction to the next level yet again.

I must enthusiastically thank you for the above order. It arrived a day early, came assembled (!), & has been acting beautifully the entire time, from OS install to BIOS optimization! This being my first PC (after owning Macs for over a decade), I was admittedly intimidated by "building my own" from parts, but everything has worked just as I would expect... except the speed: it's unlike anything I've used!

Also, thank you for the reviews section of your site. Based on your review went with the Addrontics case over an INWIN, & there's not only plenty of room, but everything is being kept well below body temperature in a 75F room!

Build to order?! Order to build! (no offense if that phrase is used by your competitors, it just came to mind :)

I, like most people, had always been waiting for the "perfect time to buy" a PC (for the last 3 years or so). I finally decided to bite the bullet and order a PC. I shopped around quite a bit- spent a lot of time at Dell's website (designing my "custom" PC), spent a lot of time at Gateway, Micron, Compaq and HP too. Soon, I realized that I was going to be spending a lot of money on a PC, and wouldn't have much control over what was going into it as I would have liked to have had. While researching Soyo motherboards, I stumbled across GamePC, and was impressed from the first second I saw their website. Logical, no gimmic's, testimonials, reviews, and some killer "pre-fab" systems. I decided to price a custom rig, and was amazed at the selection- there were things that I didn't even know existed (hard drive coolers, etc).

I carefully read the testimonials, and noticed that they all echoed one another- great craftsmanship, knowledgable staff, reasonable prices. I did some more searching of the internet computer parts retailers and noticed that yes, GamePC does charge a bit more for some items, but I can honestly say it's worth it. EVERY PENNY. My PC arrived one business day after it was finished, and I was shocked to find boxes for the individual components that I had specified were included with the assembled PC. Everything was in there- users manuals for the video and sound card, DVD, CD-RW, etc. All of the media, accessories, even the tools that came with these devices were still in the box. I doubt that you'll find the same with anyone else- good luck getting Dell or Gateway to include the drivers, manuals, etc. for anything (let alone everything!). I carefully hooked up my monitor, keyboard, mouse and power cord to the PC.

Then, the crowning moment...I fired up my new baby and she snapped to life instantly. I was promptly greeted with my dual boot option, so I selected Windows 98. I knew my AMD700, 256MB, dual IBM Deskstar34 HD's was going to be fast, but WOW!!! This thing rips! It's rock solid, has incredible speed (file access, game play, etc)- I can't think of any words to properly describe how fast this machine is.

Joel Troutt

3/21/2000
Well, I finally received my PC in the mail this past week and I have to admit, the wait was well worth it. They did such an excellent job with installation and it seemed GamePC put so much detail to configuring and setting up the pc. I had most of the internal hardware I was going to install myself, and happy to say that when I installed my hardware, it worked perfect. Wow, what a machine. It is so incredibly faster than my last pc. I tried the ultimate test, Quake III, and all I can say, is WOW! How much better can you get.

This whole experience has confirmed my hunches that buying from a company who puts more time into what they do is definately the way to go. My older computer came preconfigured from Compaq, and while it was a good machine, they don't put together a pc like GamePC. I will never buy preconfigured like that again. Even though it will be a while, my next pc will come from GamePC. The extra cost is well worth what you get.

Here's what I got from them: Athlon 700, with a Soyo K7AIA, Crucial 128MB PC133, Western Digital Caviar 20G Hard drive, Teac 1.44 floppy, 8X DVD Toshiba, Klipsch ProMedia (definately the best speakers), Addtronics 6890A, and windows 98SE. My hardware that I have installed myself is the SBLive X-gamer, Guillemot Xentor 32MB, Western Digital 13.7G (extra drive), 2 PNY 64MB PC100 chips (works fine with my setup). My total memory is now 256MB. Also I have the Creative Blaster Modem (56K), and a Philips CDRW.

I couldn't have asked for a better setup. Thanks GamePC for making my computing alot better.

I just want to tell you how very impressed I am. I first ordered a tower, motherboard, dvd, and some cooling fans from you and then I saw you installation. Everything was setup correctly (you'd be amazed at how many other places dont), and it was very clean looking compared to what I'm used to seeing (the wire mess).

I then thought I would come back to you after having to wait for my Windows 2000 order. I was anxious to install it on one of my computers and Buy.com never seemed to get a large enough stock. I was waiting and waiting but eventually canceled the order and thought I would visit you again.

Sure enough, you had Windows 2000 so I ordered with my overnight shipping and in the comments section I asked you for a power cable as I misplaced one of my others. I didn't have that high of hopes, but when I opened the box today it included Windows 2000 and a new power cable.

You have no idea how helpful you've been to me lately! I just wanted to say thank you, and I'm already sending more business your way in the near future!

Thanks again!

Well, I must say that, even though there may have been a few glitches (with parts that you didn't supply but did offer expeditious support), I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my new system. Well, I should be - I CREATED IT! Thanks to your work-of-art barebones, on-line, ordering system. You guys have all the best stuff at one location. Some of the prices were a little higher than other places (and I mean just a little), but I was able to purchase everything I wanted to from one location. Doing that is so much better than a piece here and a piece there. Before you know it, you don't know what you got from where. I received a prompt notification of my order and delivery was only one day off from your estimate. Pretty darn good! The only thing I would suggest is that for udma66 drives, you throw in a win9x floppy disk with current drivers. Not a big thing, since you told me where to get them and the download was very small - helpful nonetheless. I would, and have recommended you to anyone who wants to build/customize their dream machine. Thank you for answering all of my questions and I look forward to dealing with you for my next puchase. This system rocks!!!!!
David Drucker

2/10/2000
I purchased by GamePC about two weeks ago. Like many others who chose GamePC for their system vendor, I had specific issues of configuration, hardware and compatibility that I wished addressed. I am completely satisfied with my machine. I found that no detail, no matter how small, was omitted. During the construction of my system, I was informed that the case I had chosen would not be adequate to contain the components that I desired. Had this determination not been made at that time, I suspect I would've had difficulty with hard drive overheating and possibly failure.

The more that I have moved into the machine, the more impressed I am. In particular, I ordered four CD ROM / DVD ROM / CD rewritable drives. The audio cables of all these drives were correctly attached to my Sound Blaster Platinum live card. I had informed the GamePC staff that I would be adding an additional CD-ROM drive to the system when I received it. Because most of the drives are SCSI, I had anticipated using a SCSI utility to determine the SCSI identification number of the drive I was going to add. However, just before the computer arrived, I received an e-mail from Phil informing me of the SCSI ID number I was to use. I greatly appreciated his consideration and completeness.

Especially, when one compares the responsiveness of the GamePC staff to the near impossibility of the even determining the name of the original manufacturer of components for the major (Dell, etc.) computer manufacturers, I think it is a very unlikely I would ever wish to buy a PC from any other vendor.

David G.D. Hecht

2/8/2000
My current system is a GamePC custom rig I bought last July. This is the fourth desktop I have owned, and the first I have bought from other than a "major vendor" (my previous system was a Dell). I was very impressed by the wide variety of components offered. In fact, GamePC added a new component to their lineup after I asked if they could build a machine with that item.

The personnel are extremely competent and knowledgable, offering advice on how to maximize your configuration without draining your wallet. They take into account your needs when recommending components, and are very aware of possible incompatibilities. My only complaint would be that the system I ordered took several weeks longer to arrive than promised. This was due in part to an unanticipated problem with one of the components that I had specified which only became apparent during testing of my system (GamePC subsequently stopped offering this component as all of those they had received exhibited the same failure mode). However, they were very up front about the issues that came up and discussed possible workarounds with me. Although this represented delayed gratification in terms of getting the system, I think this is better than getting a system in a week that you then have to send back or, worse yet, get a technician to fix on-site.

In all, I consider myself very satisfied. I have owned this sytem for about 18 months and when I replace it, which will be in the next few months, i definitely plan to start looking at the GamePC website.

I received an Athlon 700, K7M MB, 128megs, Prophet DDR from you guys on 1/21/00. I must admit I was a little nervous about the K7M as many have had problems with it. But I was sure of two things about GamePC, they don't sell something they can't stand behind, and second they ONLY use quality components. My Athlon/K7M is rock solid so far. I loaded Unreal Tournament, upgraded to version 405b, upgraded my Prophet to the Nvidia 3.68 drivers, and grabbed the D3D .dll for Geforce cards from UT's sight. Runs beautifully, not ONE problem. If you spend anytime at the GamePC.com sight you know they are a quality group with fantastic support. I HIGHLY recommend GamePC, if you want the best PC but aren't quite ready to build it from scratch AND don't want to sell your brother to be able to afford it then this is the place for you!

Well so far (since I haven't touched the new "in-route" rig yet, so I must state it that way), it's been a pleasure doing business with you. Customer service is everything as far as I am concerned. And I know customers can be a pain because, and to be blunt, people (customers) are buttholes as a rule. This I know, and I know how it can be to deal with them (in this case, me). Granted I probably wasn't the worst you've seen. But I want you to know, I have been very impressed with your undivided hospitality. I've never seen the likes... Fair prices, quick turnover, and a willingness to go the extras on a customer's whim. You've been awesome!. And I will strongly recommend you to all my friends and family.

I look forward to my new GamePC (understatement).
Thanks!

I was the winner of the contest you guys had in December and I got my rig on the 28th. This thing rocks, everything about it is great. I can see the attention to detail in every aspect of it. The cables are nice and tied giving plenty of airflow, I haven't had any hardware or software troubles at all, and this thing just flies through games. I've been playing Half-Life/TFC/CStrike, System Shock 2 and Quake 3 since I got it (coupled with a new ADSL connection) and it hasn't shown signs of slowing ever. I'm recommending you guys to everyone I know that doesn't want to build their own.

Thanks a lot for this great machine!

GamePC,

Been meaning to get a message off to you guys and let you know that the AMD system you put together for me arrived on time and with no problems. It is everything I was expecting and more. Quite a jump from my Pentium 133 to an Athlon 700. Wow! You all did an excellent job putting this system together, great workmanship and top notch components. I am completely satisfied with it. It was hard to stop using it and take the time to send you this e-mail.

Thanks for taking the time to answer the questions I had before I ordered this system. In this day and age it seems like it is hard to take the time and to let someone know when they have done a good job. I would appreciate it if you could let everyone know at GamePC that they have a satisfied customer and it was a pleasure doing business with you.

Wish everyone there a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,

Bill Roche

Happy Holidays! The PC is great - you guys did a tremendous job of assembling it. All the cables tied and stowed. It's obvious you take a lot of pride in doing good work. Thank you for a GREAT machine!

What a great bunch of people to deal with... I decided to buy a PC even tho I'm a dyed-in-the-wool UNIX guy who knew *nothing* about PC's other than that they seem to expect being rebooted all the time ;-) The information on the gamepc web-site was invaluable in helping me choose my system, the sales people were extremely helpful in explaining other details and helping ensure that the final system was a well planned one rather than a mere collection of parts, and the after sales support was excellent. The passthru cable on my system had a bent pin (dunno if it came that way, or if I bent it myself), resulting in everything being displayed in yellow. Literally TWO minutes after me emailing gamepc about the problem, a technician (Phil) called me to start debugging the issue. I wish I could get that kind of response at work !!! About the only things I can think of that I would have liked to have seen done differently, are: 1) I believe I read that the system would come with all connectors and cables color-coded so that putting the system together would be trivial even for people like me; that wasn't the case, so I ended up calling for some assistance. No big deal, but it could be made easier. 2) It would be nice to have a list of "comming soon" hardware. I knew that I wanted a GeForce graphics card in my system, yet when I looked at the gamepc web-site, no such card was on offer. I thus headed out to look for parts myslef, and have a friend put it together for me... only out of sheer chance did I stumble back into the gamepc site to find that the above card had been added a couple of days after I first looked. I realise you may simply not want to advertise hardware that you don't physically have yet, but there may be quite a few more people like me who would happily wait... so it would be nice to have that option. Thanx guys (Brad, Phil, Jack, et. al) for making this such a painless experience for a novice like me.

I went to your sight and customized it and then searched the net for the same products at lower prices. What I found was that the only difference between you sending me the parts(no assembly or warranty) and me getting them separate from various vendors was yours being $114 more expensive. Then I added the your standard assembly and warranty and the difference was a mere $339.

I would really like you to post this because I would like to point out the fact that the difference is well worth it. If anyone has ever tried build their own system they know what I'm talking about. You have to find all the drivers, keep track all the separate warranties, not to mention actually getting the dam thing to run in the first place.

I refer everyone who tells me they are planning on buying a new computer to you guys. I also tell them yes you can do it cheaper yourself, but after you put in all the time and hassle it is well worth that extra money to have one overall warranty and have someone else to do the work. I also point out that you warranty your OC'ed systems as well, and if they do it themselves they would void the cpu warranty and be SOL, but most important of all, I tell them that you guys have the hottest systems available.

P.S. I will click that buy online button as soon as I talk my fiance in going half'n'half with me.

I bought a bare-bones Athlon system from GamePC at the beginning of the month and I have been delighted with it and GamePC's service. I looked around at several companies before taking the plunge, and GamePC offered the absolute best range of component choices! All were reasonably priced too.

Since I was building a rig using some already-acquired parts (Athlon 700 CPU) and some parts from my existing machine, I needed to customize every part of the machine, and I didn't need some components (CPU, RAM, monitor) typically provided in an OEM system. Have you ever asked a big OEM to customize your new machine? They make such a big claim of it in their advertising, but believe me, when I tried to quote out my machine without a CPU and RAM, they **literally** laughed at me. GamePC offers complete micromanagement of every important part of your new machine, and more choices than other specialty pc makers, too. GamePC did a great job testing my new equipment, too. I bought an ASUS K7 motherboard, and the initial BIOS versions had several annoying problems, discovered when the technicians at GamePC tested my new rig (keep in mind, they asked me what CPU & RAM specs I'd be supplying, and pulled the same stuff off their shelves for the testing, even though I was not buying those parts from them). Well, Phil, one of the folks at GamePC, kept me updated on the progress of the troubleshooting, and eventually solved it by contacting ASUS in Taiwan **directly** and getting from them the newest BIOS update, which was not yet available on the ASUS FTP site, and flashing my machine's BIOS -- problem solved. And keep in mind this effort was for a bare-bones system, not one of their complete systems where the margins are presumably higher. I couldn't fathom a big OEM doing this kind of thing for an individual customer. Any way, GamePC's service, breadth of customization, reasonable prices, and delivery as promised (8 business days even with the BIOS issue) will ensure I am a repeat customer. And being one of those guys who likes to stay on the leading edge of technology, they won't have to wait very long for my next purchase.

Hi,

I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much I enjoy the machine I ordered from you. It was delivered on time and took only minutes to set up. It has run like a gem (I have had it since late September). Your custom web site is the best I've seen. I researched other custom vendors, Falcon and Alienware, and determined you site had the greatest choice of componets and very competive pricing.

I'll be buying my next machine from you.

Thanks

When I listed specs for a multimedia editing machine to local dealers and the top mail order computer makers, I was told it couldn't be done. You did it - I got every feature I asked for and, thanks to your tech staff, they work great! Your folks configured the hardware, the software and even took the trouble to color code the unusually complex audio and video connections required because of the combination of top of the line components. Special thanks to Brad Bell for his help in identifying the right components for the jobs I need performed.
I'll gladly recommend GamePC to any of my customers.

Hmmm, where to start.  I spent years dreaming about my ultimate game machine, well 3 to be exact.  I would read all sorts of magazines and visit all sorts of web sites trying to glean as much information as possible as to what components are best etc.  Falcon NW is the first game machine site I ever visited and at the time I was impressed.  The more and more I read and learned about hardware, the less and less I was impressed by Falcon.  I even placed calls to Falcon to discuss systems with them and the attitude they gave me made me even less impressed.  If you read newsgroups and visit sites of people that have put together their own machines, you'd never, ever, ever, buy a computer from Falcon NW.  In my opinion, the people who buy their computers from Falcon are the uninformed.  They don't know what the hell to get so they let someone who wants to charge you an arm and a leg (Falcon's prices are utterly ridiculous).  If I remember correctly, Falcon only allowed motherboards from ONE manufacturer, Asus.  So much for "CUSTOM."  Look at the case and PS they give you; give me a break!  A 235W PS?  One fan for case cooling?  Puhhhleeez!  If you ever get into overclocking you'll find out that the case that Falcon gives you will just NOT CUT IT!  I don't see anyway of expanding with that thing.  I remember when I was trying to decide which outfit to buy from (not having the slightest clue as to how to build my own) comparing choices between Falcon, Alienware, and GamePC.  Only GamePC gave me complete control over every single component that went into my machine.  Not only did I have complete control, I had difficulty coming up with a setup because there were too many component selections to choose from.  It took me a good amount of time to research each component before I could make my decision.  A big factor that made me choose GamePC were all the referrals from REAL PEOPLE who owned GamePC machines themselves.  That's who I want to hear from; not from some guy who's getting paid to do a review in a magazine.  Well, enough of that.  You probably want to hear about my whole experience with GamePC and why I now worship the machine that I purchased from them (Ok, a line has been crossed but hey, when you get yours, you'll see why).

It took longer than usual to receive my game rig than the 7-10 business days.  The reason for that being I asked them to do more work on my computer the day they were about to ship it.  I asked them to overclock my P3 450 to 558.  Thanks  for all the time you spent on my machine Phil (man, I hope I remembered your name right) and everyone else that worked on it.  Well, 558 was a no go.  My Guillemot Xentor 32 did not like the AGP bus at 83 MHz (more on that later).  So what did they do?  They tried the next speed down.  Again, no go.  I didn't have access to e-mail at the time so all my communication was done on the phone with one guy, Phil.  The man did a great job of keeping me up to date.  He informed me of the problems they encountered, what happened when they ran this game, etc.  Finally, after another week of working on my computer, they sent it out to me at the default 450 and didn't charge me for all that extra work and burn-in time!  (These guys rock)  If that's not dedication to getting a good product out to a customer, I don't know what is.  Phil called me when my product was shipped and then called me again to give me my UPS tracking number.  Four days after I got my trackin number, I received my computer.  The thing screamed to life and everything ran perfectly.  I was going to install my two Voodoo2s in SLI but once I saw Half-Life and Quake with the Xentor 32, I put those things back in their boxes.  The only problems I encountered with my computer were a result of my own idiocy; couldn't put the right .cfg file in the right place for my PantherXL and some other dumb software slips.

I've had my computer now for over a month and everything still runs great even though I've voided warranties by making a few customizations of my own.  What have I done you ask?  Well, I removed the retail heatsink/fan and slapped on a Tennmax P3 TF.  I took the SECC2 backplate off the CPU and attached a heatsink to the transistors on the back of the CPU.  CPU has been running stable at 527 MHz @ 35.5 degrees Celsius; never goes above 40C even after looping the Quake 2 Crusher and Massive demos for 3 hours.  I think the reason for this is the extended burn-in time I had and the extra case cooling I've implemented.  I've enlarged holes in the front panel of my Addtronics 6890A and cut away some of the panel at the bottom to allow more airflow to the two 80mm fans.  In addition to the two fans on the tennmax, I've added a slot fan and a hard drive cooler bringing the total # to 11 fans.  I'm thinking of replacing the heatsink/fan on my Xentor 32 with a TNT Detonator cooler from Tennmax.  Am I worried about the voided warranties?  Hell, no!  Why?  Because that just means I'll be able to buy more awesome hardware from GamePC!

Yes, my GamePC has turned me into an absolute freak.  I hope your GamePC does the same!

Howdy,

The good news:
I got my packages ok, on time, assembled the machine, and 2 hours later...well I'm typing this email with 2 processors (laugh). The system is purring like a kitten (er...LION kitten), and life is good. Linux is running like a charm with not even a hint of a problem (as expected) and WinNT gave me a BSOD on bootup (due to differences in SCSI adapters...as expected. Actually I admit I booted into NT just to see it do that...I'm not M$ fan). So everything is happy (yes, M$ BSOD makes me happy).

The bad news:
With service, product quality, and reputation like yours I fear your marketing dept will soon be overwhelmed with calls from the people I recommend to your company. Good Job!

Hi everybody, I bought my system back a few months ago and finally have found the time to write back. I ordered my system and about two weeks later (due to some compatibility problems with my selection which you guys were so nice about) it arrived. I brought it home and opened up the boxes. I expected to see some popcorn and some parts, what I saw was A LOT of popcorn and the boxes for all my individual items, all the disks and a larger box containing the system itself. Every company I have ever bought a computer from just sends the computer somewhat padded in a large and heavy box. Though the box was large and heavy you guys put more padding then I imagined would fit into such a box. After I removed all the boxes I opened up the tower box. Inside was even more packing :) I pulled it out and plugged everything in. "Here we go" I said as I hit the cool golf ball shaped power button for the first time. I heard the ever so pleasent sound of fans winding up and my computer came to life. Windows booted up (doesn't always happen to me when I buy a new computer from those other companies)and within a minute everything was done loading. I had to adjust the monitor and some minor settings to get it the way I prefered, and then I noticed something. You guys even set the date and clock right for my time zone (can't beat that!) I then proceded to load up a game of q2 and I almost passed out. I was flying, I was hitting higher framerates than I thought possible! My old computer is a compaq presario 166 mmx, it has so much junk running in the backround due to Compaqs idea of making the system more user friendly that when I punch crtl alt delete I see a list of about twenty items or more. With my game rig I saw what I beleve to be the bare minimum, 3. A few weeks ago I installed a network card for my cable modem. When I opened up the case I expected to see the usual, a jungle of freehanging wires. Instead what I saw was the wires held nicely together by some restraints and a very shiny inside. I must say that this system has to be the best and fastest computer I have ever purchesed, you guys definitly have my next purchase (might be buying one of your gamebooks sometime in the future).

Hey Guys,

I wanted to email and tell you that the computer works great!!! Im very happy!

You guys did a great job in making sure that I was satisfied and that was the most important thing. We had a few glitches along the way, but what counted and what I was testing you on was your dedication to me, the customer. You passed with flying colors! You never once left me to hang in the air. You where right there making sure that everything I wanted was taken care of and you did it with a smile.

Great job guys!

Im going to put a link up to your website on my main homepage in the left frame under my java applet for the next 2 weeks.  Hopefully it will bring you some sales.

Thanks a lot GamePC!  You guys did a great job.

My name is Bill Cox, and I purchased loose parts for a machine that I decided to construct myself from GamePC. They carry the highest quality components with thorough reviews, and in depth analysis for compatibility. I ran across GamePC by chance, but I am ever so glad I did. First off I would like to thank Brad, Jeff and Chip for their outstanding service, and response time. I believe that these individuals, if they are representative of their entire staff have definitely convinced me to make all future hardware purchases through GamePC. Their superior service, outstanding knowledge, and quick response were simply unheard of.  I should know I have worked as a technical support engineer with two different Internet service providers, and I am also a computer communications systems engineer with the Illinois Air National Guard, (roughly a bachelors in Computer Science and Networking Principles and Operating Systems).  While I must admit that before I made my purchase I posed a couple of bogus questions to see how long it would take to get a response and how thorough the answers would be.  I was shocked at the same day response and the in depth explanation that I received.  KUDOS TO GAMEPC!!!  I did however run into a problem that I could not figure out (beings that I assembled my own pc).  Everyone I spoke with was more than helpful, extremely patient, and I believe interested in the outcome of the situation.  As it turns out I had a small piece of packing material lodged in the AGP port that was causing the errors....but I write this email now for all of you to see from a fully functional DUAL PIII 500 that would not be running right now if it were not for the assistance of the staff of GAMEPC.  I urge you...if you are reading this now and considering purchasing your hardware/assembled machine from GAMEPC....close this testimonial and order your parts :)

I have been waiting to write a testomonial since they were one of the reasons I bought from GamePC, so I just thought you should know that besides the great service I received, the knowledgable and friendly sales staff, the great variety of superior components at good prices, the flawless setup and first power-on, the speedy technical support replacing a flaky component within two days, the retained value as prices have not dropped too far below what I paid two months ago and my complete lack of buyer's remorse---my relatively standard Celeron 450a runs Quake 3 TOO FAST with all of the options turned ON at 1024x768, and I will still be able to afford a second phone line to play it with. It doesn't get any better than this. Thank you all for your help.

Dear GamePC,

I planned on buying a new system for many months and looked at what the major mail-order vendors had to offer. I quickly discovered how limited their options were. One vendor, Dell, won't even put a CD-RW and Zip disk in the same system because they claim it is not "industry standard".  Eventually I settled on one vendor, Micron, thinking I had no other choice.

Reading the newsgroups I discovered all sorts of bad stories: components that didn't work, strange keyboard beeps that the company denied any knowledge of, technical support people that hung up on callers, systems shutting down during use because the power supplies were barely adequate, and so on. I sent e-mail to this company and they ignored all my questions; I never received a reply. I then called and found the salespeople were unable to answer basic questions about the components they were selling, and in some cases they were simply rude to me. Finally, I discovered that I could configure identical systems on their Web site that differed in price by over $200 merely be starting with different base systems.

I briefly considered building my own system, but found there are many drawbacks. Getting all the components means ordering from a number of different vendors. Each of these vendors has different return time limits, restocking fees, etc. Some are chronically out of stock of certain items.  Some won't ship certain components to California. It didn't seem worth my time and trouble.

Luckily, I heard about GamePC and checked out your Web site. What a difference! I was so pleased to find that you offer many choices in all categories of components, and that I could specify the type of system that I wanted. I wrote e-mail messages asking some questions, and every time I receive a reply within a day. I also called and was shocked to find that I wasn't on hold for half an hour but was speaking to someone right away, someone who was curteous and could answer all my questions!

I recently received my GamePC PIII system and am very impressed. The system and all the materials shipped with it were very well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. My system is wonderful...truly a custom-built computer with all the components that I wanted. It's pretty much what I would have built for myself, but without all the hassle and worries. It had all the software and latest drivers installed and was completely ready for use. I think that you've done a superb job and will certainly recommend GamePC to friends and coworkers who are interested in buying a new computer. Best of luck and thank you!

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge my satisfaction with the system I purchased from you.  It is truly a fantastic rig!.  Thanks for the excellent service and assembly. (and freebee Just cooler)

I must admit, I was  initially a little timid in purchasing from GAMEPC. I hadn't heard of you before and  I really wanted a FALCON.  However I could not justify in  my mind the considerable extra cost they demand.   GAMEPC has delivered a system that I believe is every ounce as good as or better than anyone else could have provided.

I received my system in about two weeks.  The first thing I was impressed by was the Addtronic 7890A case.  This is a very high quality component and I suspect it will outlast most of the "things" stuffed into it.  I was equally impressed with the assembly and cable management of the system.  Thanks to the assemblers for a great job.

Of course the components are excellent. but that's why I chose them. The Midiland 4100s are impressive.  Half-Life and Unreal are really creepy with these things fired up. The Plextor 8x CD burner is amazing.  I had a hard time choosing between EIDE and SCSI but in the end I'm glad I shelled out the bucks for SCSI. The IBM Ultrastars reduce loading times to a minimum, and in such a high end system it seemed too much of a compromise to go with anything else.

I've has the system for a little more than a week now and just about everything is working fine.  My modem connection is dropping more often than on my old system, but I suspect this may have something to do with my "tweaks".  I've added a network card and a SCSI tape drive and controller (Geez-- I'm already running out of PCI slots!)  All the additions are working well.

In closing I would once again like to thank everyone at GAMEPC who assisted me with my order and the assembly of  my machine.  I will not hesitate to recommend GAMEPC to my friends and colleagues.

Thanks!

Just wanted to send you a thank you note and tell the folks who were thinking of picking up a computer from GamePC, but were not sure about it, TO DO IT !!!  I, like many others, had been a prisoner of the "Dell" concept of computer marketing for many years. It took my becoming a hard core on line gamer to make me realize that we were being ripped off by the so called "big companies". The "bang for the buck" value of a system from GamePC is outstanding.   My scores in LMCTF have improved by 10 to 20 frags per map !!!!   Rest assured, you have another customer for LIFE!!! Everything about the purchase, all the questions I asked that were promptly answered by your staff, the packing of the computer, the assembly quality <I wish you guys did house cleaning ;-)>  and quick response to all questions. Also the fact that IT SHIPPED WITHIN 3 DAYS OF ORDERING !!! I could go on, but you get the idea.

For all you gamers out there who are still undecided about it...  GO FOR IT !!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED !!!!!

Just wanted to say thank you for a great system. I received my computer Thursday at work and rushed home to set it up. I was going to go with Micron, but after months of research I decided upon you guys. I have to say that I am extremely satisfied with my system and will be recommending Game PC to others. I appreciate the level of service I received even though the computer I ordered was probably not as expensive as what other people might order. I have been playing games on a 200MMX Compaq for the past year and a half. The preformance difference between that load of junk and my new system is amazing. I plan on staying with you guys for all my future needs as long as your company doesn't turn into a Dell or Compaq. I even took the day off from work to play with my new game toy.

Thanks.

Hi,
I'm writing to convey my gratitude.  I'd just like to say that I've had my new system for about a month or so now, and I am completely happy, and impressed with the service I received from your fine company.  Starting with the email questions I began sending nearly 6 months before the purchase you were always prompt and courteous and that made all the difference to someone like me who was just learning the ins and outs of the actual hardware that's in our computers.  When my system arrived I was again amazed at the professionalism of the packaging and care with which the machine was obviously put together.  While I did have to make a few adjustments myself, it is a small price to get what I believe to be one of the most well constructed and most informed purchases of my entire life.  Thank you very much for your fine work!

Recently, I really began to feel just how slow my p200 mmx system had become. I decided it was time for an upgrade, so to the net I went looking for prices. Overall, gamepc has one of the widest selections of hardware at the best prices anywhere to be found. I wanted to order everything from one place, and now I had the chance.

Gamepc's web site was very helpful in helping me with my decision.  The weekly tips and buying tips section really showed me how much you guys care for your customers.  Having the prices updated daily is also a huge help, and going along with this is that great quote section to see just how much the system would cost.

I decided that I wanted to build the system myself even though you guys have a great price on assembly and testing.  After placing my order, I got a call almost 10 minutes later all the way from your offices (I'm in NJ) confirming my order. This was a real surprise, but the thing that opened my eyes was when a part was not in stock, you guys called me back the same day to tell me what was sold out and when it could be shipped. This kind of service is unheard of.

I'm now waiting for my parts to arrive to begin assembly and can't wait to be cruising in style on my new computer.  Your service, prices, and selection are great and I would recommend you above anyone else for someone looking for a new computer. I'd like to thank you for all you have done and keep up the good work!!

Hey Guys, (feel free to post this)

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to commend you on such a positive buying experience.  I contacted you several times prior to ordering my system and was very impressed with the courtesy of everyone I spoke with (in spite of the frequency of my calls! ;-).  After verifying that I wouldn't have any major problems with installing some of my existing components in the new system - I took the plunge....  I ordered the machine on a Monday night and received it the following Monday afternoon! - What service!  As far as the performance goes - all I can say is WOW!  I'm now getting 73.9 fps from Quake 2 at 1024 X 768 (with all the "eye candy" turned to "11").  I fact - within 2 days of receiving my system - two of my buddies saw it and ordered their new machines from you too.

If anyone is interested - the system is as follows:
450 Pentium 2, 256 Mb ram, Aopen AX6BC mobo, Asus v3400 TNT with 16mb, dual Canopus Voodoo2's*, Seagate 9.1gb Medalist Pro*, IBM Deskstar 6.4gb*, Turtle Beach Montego A3dxstream*, 3Com PCI ethernet card (for cable -whooo!)*, Midiland S2-4100 speakers*, hard drive cooling fan, vantec 3 fan for cpu, In-Win mini tower with 300w ps upgrade, etc...

Even though a lot of the components were ones I already owned - GamePC treated me as if I was ordering a $4000 dollar system - when in reality - what I ordered was most likely one of the smaller sales they have had.  Because of their incredible service - they have earned two new additional customers in my buddies who just ordered their new systems from them.

If anyone is having doubts about ordering from GamePC - I have 3 words..
JUST DO IT!

I was greatly impressed with the system I purchased from your company when it arrived and I continue to feel that way. After pulling it out of the box, plugging in all the sundry cables from legacy components and the ones I ordered from you, I powered up and was playing Baldur's Gate within the hour. I spent most of that hour exploring features and settings of the sound card and graphics card and testing their example programs. Only when I finished playing that night did I realise I never once REbooted, I simply powered up.  Being a Software Architect (ahem) and considering myself a hardware buff I was fully prepared to start installing new drivers and reconfiguring the machine to suit my needs, but none of this was nessecarry. My experience was MUCH less painful than what I have experienced with all the new DELLs my company keeps buying and I end up reconfiguring, usually requiring
repartitioning the drives.
I also removed the case to "just look around" and was very impressed with the internal organization of the components and cables. Much better than I did myself with my last PC which I fully installed and configured.   In short, I was greatly impressed with the quality of your operation and the computer you provided. If I am in the market for another machine or components above your minimum order limit, I will definately be back.   Thank you for providing a buisness which caters to those of us with intensely personal PC requirements, and living up to our high standards.

I ran Half-Life in 1024 x 768.  My jaw gaped and drool started coming out of my mouth.  I had a 3d graphics-gasm.  I'd heard how sweet Voodoo2 and Half-Life looked, but I never expected that!  And the motion is creamy smooth and disc accessing so fast you still remain part of the action when Half-Life stops (during the beginning sequence especially) and the "Loading" prompt appears (it stays on screen usually less than a second).

Color me impressed.

Hi this is Aaron Presuhn.  I just got my computer set, up and I have one word; WOW! Everything works great!  Even better than I thought, because I had some reservations about buying from a lesser know company.  Everyone said, "Dell, Gateway, Compaq."  Well, I knew about those systems, and I said no.  I just wanted to say that I love my system, and if I ever get a new computer in the future, I will buy from you again.  Thanks a lot!

I'm not going to ramble about a PC that we (mutually) have an intimate knowledge of already, but I am going to tell you that you make one hell of a system. I have avoided PC manufacturers for some time now, as I prefer to build them myself, so it is done right the first time, and not on an assembly line. I expected to sacrifice some quality by purchasing a manufactured PC, but I am glad to say I was wrong. also, I could tell that you tested it the same way I would have-with real (or unreal) games.

Anyway, thanks again. You have my respect, which no other PC manufacturer has *ever* been able to do.  It looks like my days of building my own systems are over!
